California Vineyard 100% Solar Powered
Solar power — By Amy on September 16, 2008 at 7:16 pmShafer Vineyards in Napa County, California is among the first vineyards in the area to use solar power exclusively to run all winery operations. They are utilizing a GE photovoltaic power system that blends in with the breathtaking natural beauty of Shafer’s 200 acres.

Solar Powered Shafer Vineyard
Generating power through solar panels and solar shingles in strategic locations throughout their property, this family owned business has substantially lowered their energy costs. Looking at the lifetime of Shafer’s system (approximately 30 years), utilizing solar power will provide the air-purifying equivalent of planting 17,000 trees, because of the greenhouse gasses that will not be produced. Shafer Vineyard is an excellent example of how a business can be ecologically responsible and flourish by using solar power and sustainable agriculture.
