Garden Solar Lights for Your Yard
Solar power — By Stephanie on February 11, 2009 at 6:24 amYou can install garden solar lights in your yard for beauty, safety or ambiance. Whether surrounding your patio, on your deck, or even leading up to the front door, there are a number of options for those that want to use free energy to light up the outdoors. For lazy people like me, the best thing about garden solar lights is that you can just stick them in the ground, as long as its in a location that gets sunlight each day. No wires and no trenches – it could not be easier.
I’ve lined my driveway with solar lights and also illuminated a few pretty trees. One of my friends has solar powered lights around her swimming pool. We’ve even enjoyed dinner on the deck of a great restaurant and admired the solar patio lights in the landscaping.
With the economy as it is, this is exactly the kind of home improvement project you can undertake on a weekend for very little investment. Once you buy the lights, you know you will not be paying more on your electric bill for the cost of usage. Whether you mark the location of pathways or simply wind a strand of garden solar lights around your tree, consider this a way to lighten your mood, without doing the same to your wallet.
I was amazed to find these garden solar lights which also keep pests away. Anytime I can kill two bugs… er… birds with a stone, I am even happier to invest in the product:
You can find garden solar lights at most home improvement and warehouse stores. From oriental to Craftsman designs, some are even beautiful works of glass art. Solar powered lights are available at all price points, from 6-packs for about $25, to individual lights costing several hundred dollars.
As shown in this video, the lights are very easy to install. And, to address the concerns of some people regarding their brightness, you can purchase solar lights with additional LED bulbs to increase the illumination:
We’re getting closer to March, which gives me Spring Fever! Next time I go out to plant some bulbs, I think I’ll stick in a few garden solar lights, too.

Didn’t take much to convince me, I’ve been doing a lot with solar energy lately – from solar powered chargers to exploring solar and wind powered street lighting – why I haven’t taken up a simple idea like this though is beyond me – time to rectify that I think.
Hi Bradford, Once I started looking into alternative energy, I felt the same way as you – why did it take me so long? Glad to hear you’ve been making a difference!
