Last night, I greeted the doorbell to a nice woman promoting a green non-profit organization. I decided to join Environment Oregon, and I hope that you consider doing so too.
Environment Oregon provides an opportunity to connect with Repower America, includes latest renewable energy news, and has easy links to online petitions/actions for you to join, including those related to transit-oriented development (TOD) and making Portland more bicycle-friendly.
According to the literature they gave me, Environment Oregon is focused on:
“protecting Oregon’s air, water and open space, standing up to special interests and taking action to improve the quality of our environment and our lives.”
The organization is proud about the fact that support from its members helped to pass Ballot Measure 49 (a land use law that repealed Measure 37) and also helped position Oregon as a clean energy leader, passing one of the country’s strongest renewable energy laws that requires utilities to obtain 25% of its energy from clean, green sources by 2025.
