Start a Green Conversation with Your Kids
Green kids — By Stephanie on September 26, 2008 at 10:53 amIf you are a parent, or work around children, you probably know that having regular conversations with your kids about important topics is a crucial part of their upbringing. Many adults are advised to have discussions about sex, alcohol and drugs, and Internet safety with their children. I would add to this list, and recommend that you start a green conversation with your kids about the benefits of recycling and caring for the environment. You may be surprised to learn that many kids ages 6-12 have already formed ideas and strong opinions about the future of Mother Earth. Children are concerned about their future, and they want to be sure that the skies will remain as blue as they are today.
Why not start a green conversation? Ask your kids what they think about global warming, or alternative energy sources? Make a plan as a family to take steps to reduce your carbon footprint. Children will appreciate knowing that you care about the world they will inherit, and you may even learn a few new facts.
