Remodel Green
Going green — By Amy on January 5, 2009 at 9:00 amThe trends are changing in the US building market. According to the US Green Building Council, homeowners across the country and in every income level are going green when remodeling.
Why Remodel Green?
That was one of the questions asked in a recent survey and the results were impressive.
Environmental benefits scored highest with 42% of respondents citing that as their primary motivation. Those benfits exceeded increased comfort (35%). Americans are putting the environment ahead of their own comforts! Are you surpirsed? Improved appearance came in third with 24%.
A happy 87% of homeowners who have done a green remodel stated that they are more or much more satisfied with the energy efficiency of their home. They are also enjoying better indoor air quality, among other benefits of a healthy home.
Even though home sales are crawling at the moment, 70% of those surveyed stated that they would be more inclined to purchase a green home or a property with some green updates, over a standard home.
What about you? Given the choice, what would you buy? It’s a no-brainer I suppose! If you are planning any work on your home, will you remodel green?
The opportunities to green up your home get better every year with new green building products and eco-friendly materials for every room in your home. From floor to ceiling, from the bathroom to the basement, there is something you can do to improve efficiency, keep harmful chemicals from entering your home and utilize susainable materials. You really can do a green remodel!
One last benefit to consider: long term, energy efficient and green home improvements will definitely make a difference in the resale value of your home. You will protecting the environment, the investment in your home and your personal health all by making better choices!
