Wind Bags: Re Purposed Feed Bags

Wild Bird Seed Re-Purposed Feed Bag

Here in the high desert region of Central Oregon, sunshine and farms abound.  Green is more than just the color of the fields.  In fact, it is a lifestyle for many in the area.

For one farmer, she simply could not tolerate dumping used feed bags into the garbage.  Living on a 100% clean energy property, powered by solar and wind energy, Faye Barnes created “Wind Bags,” made from recycled feed bags.

Just check out the photo to the right!  These cute, durable re-purposed feed bags are Americana chic!  They are sturdy, with flat bottoms and heavy woven plastic handles.  Cart them along to the supermarket, or carry your knitting supplies or favorite book along next time you travel.

Not only will you look hip, but you can feel smugly green about your eco-bag!

Creators Faye and Rose work on the Wind Bags right here in Central Oregon at an off-grid facility that is powered by wind and solar.

There are several designs of Wind Bags available for only $16.  You can also send your own, clean seed or feed bag to the designers and they’ll create a custom Wind Bag for you!

I think I have already decided what I’m giving my mother-in-law for Christmas this year!  Reusable shopping totes like these are a perfect, unique green holiday gift.

I bought this bag made from dog food bag at the Tigard Farmers Market in Oregon. It’s durable and cute.

I bought two bags (including the cute bird seed one pictured) from these ladies at a Christmas bazaar in Prineville two years ago. I LOVE my WindBags. Wish they had a website; the link (from their name) above results in an error.
