Old Library Books Get New Life
Going green, Peachy — By Roberta on September 16, 2010 at 5:16 am
I love books, especially old books. Books have always been my dear friends and are tucked away in every nook and cranny of my house, so of course I was enthralled when I came across a library that is giving new life to some old books by repurposing them as furniture– in this case a reference desk in the library of the Technical University of Delft in The Netherlands.
I am also into recycling, re-purposing and recycled art , so this is a natural for me. The best part is that this desk is not only a stunning re-use of old library books, it leaves the books intact and does not in any way hurt or destroy them. While you can’t exactly slip a book out of the assemblage to re-read it, you can disassemble the desk and have all your old friends at your side once again anytime you want.
The pictures below will give you a good idea of how the desk looks and how it is constructed. It looks pretty simple and I think I am going to try it. Peachygreen kudos to the library of the Technical University of Delft for a great green idea.

What a waste of books. You should have used televisions instead.
