A great day for green

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  Even if you aren’t Irish (which probably includes the vast majority of us), its a great day for green!   From green clothing, green hair, to the beloved green beer.  We’ll all sport the springy hue today.

My guess is that most people don’t know who St. Patrick was, and even why we celebrate the holiday.  Like Cinco de Mayo, this holiday has been “imported” and evolved into an excuse to dress up and party.

But why end on March 18?

Go green everyday

What if we decided that we could go green everyday?  We could make each day a great day for green.

Its a hopeful color – full of life and new promise.  Like the first buds in spring, we can’t help but feel a bit happy inside when we take a look at fresh green nature. By doing even a small part – whether recycling your newspaper or installing high efficiency light bulbs – you can carry a little bit of green in your heart with you on a daily basis.

This reminds me of a day in high school when I forgot to wear green on St. Patrick’s Day.  What did I tell my friends to avoid getting pinched?  You guessed it…. I said I was wearing green underwear.

By going green everyday, you’ll have your own pair of green underwear.  Its underneath the surface, and it will probably even make you feel a bit “fresh” (pardon the pun).
