Happy Easter from Peachy Green
Going green, Peachy — By Stephanie on April 4, 2010 at 6:50 amIts Easter and springtime – both excellent reasons to celebrate! Spring is the season of re-birth and renewal – as well as fertility – often represented by the egg. Around the world, many countries celebrate Easter and Passover with hard boiled, dyed or chocolate eggs. When dyed red, the famous Easter symbol is said to represent the blood of Christ.
Bunnies and chicks also symbolize the Easter season for reasons that may not be too surprising. The Easter bunny originated pre-Christianity as a symbol of new life in Spring. So, in effect, we are celebrating the fertility of rabbits… an animal with an amazing reproductive rate (in one breeding season, a single female rabbit can produce as many as 800 children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren!)
On the other hand, chicks emerge from the eggs that represent springtime and Easter. And, they are just too cute!
Easter symbols aside, no matter how you spend Easter Sunday, the season can be one of reflection and making new plans for the months ahead. It is an opportunity for your own self-growth and renewal. Many agree that springtime seems more like a New Year celebration than other times of the year.
So here’s to a Happy Easter to you and yours! Prepare for the long, summer months ahead. Enjoy an Easter egg or two. Maybe even just get out and enjoy the spring weather.
**Chocolate and marshmallow treats included!
