Enter the EarthCare Challenge
Going green, Peachy — By Stephanie on October 17, 2009 at 6:53 amCan’t get enough of reality shows? Does your sustainable lifestyle leave friends and family “green” with envy? Do you have a large social networking community (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.)?
Perhaps you should consider entering the EarthCare Challenge!
You could be part of a new nationwide contest that will follow the real-life challenges of 6 contestants who will battle between each other for the title of most sustainable lifestyle. Use your Internet networks to vote for you on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and at EarthCareInside.com.
Sponsored by Hickory Springs, the EarthCare Challenge is a nationwide search for 12 of the country’s most dynamic personalities to be crowned “EcoChic.”
You could win a grand prize worth $5,000 and… along the way… engage in a 45-day Green Makeover, with complimentary consultations. There’s no entry fee, so why not?
If you are at least 21 years of age, here’s what you need to do!
- Produce and upload a three to five-minute video to YouTube.com/EarthCareChallenge.
- Begin by stating that you are entering “Phase I of The EarthCare Challenge by Hickory Springs.” Then, answer the following questions in your video: Would you consider yourself to be Eco-Oblivious as opposed to EcoChic?
Give three examples that demonstrate why you are the most Eco-Oblivious or EcoChic contestant. - Be creative and have fun!
- Don’t forget to tag your video with the following information:
- Your Facebook user name
- State of Residence
- Phase I, EarthCare Challenge
- If you do not have a Facebook user name, substitute your email address.
On December 1, six regional finalists will be announced. These Phase I winners will then start a 45-day Green Makeover, guided by a panel of Green Lifestyle Experts. Then, the real fun begins!
Phase II is entirely online. Judges will evaluate your progress through your own postings. Contest rules suggest you produce: 6- 12 Tweets per week, 1-2 blog or Facebook note postings per week, and at least 2 YouTube videos.
Use your Facebook and YouTube fans (and recruit more friends) to participate in the contest by voting for you as their favorite contestant. Even the participating public could win discounts and prizes! The official site explains:
As a contestant, you will be judged based on your demonstrated progress against the tips and guidance received during the 45-day green makeovers. Your comments will be publicized in the form of Tweets, blog postings, YouTube videos and social media notes.
At the end of the 45 days, a single grand prize winner will be announced on January 18, 2010. This will be the person that has made the most dramatic green makeover to showcase a sustainable lifestyle, as selected by Hickory Springs. If that’s you, you could take home an entire collection of eco-friendly home furnishings.
Don’t be shy! And don’t enter if you are shy! All Phase I and Phase II contestants may have broad media coverage, including publicity and promotional materials (sorry, no compensation for that part of it).
Who’s game for a new type of reality contest? Enter soon – you only have about 6 weeks to do so! For complete rules and requirements, click here.
