In Home eco-Meter Tracks Daily Use

Cutting back on electricity use can seem simple enough, but have you been able to track exactly what is working (and saving) and what isn’t? It’s mostly guesswork. You do everything you can in a given month to reduce your consumption and when the bill arrives you attempt to figure out how much you saved over last year this time and if your efforts have been successful. At least that how I do it!
Things are changing fast. The new ecoMeter by Landis+Gyr gives homeowners a continuously updating report of energy use and cost by connecting wirelessly to your electric meter.
In trials, consumers with ready access to this information were more likely to reduce their energy use consistently. The in home ecoMeter will initially be available only to utilities using Landis+Gyr’s ZigBee enabled meters. Hopefully, they will be availible to us all in the near future!

Very cool. It would be helpful to know just what is and isn’t working as you try to lower electric bills.
