Here in the United States, its Thanksgiving Day! As we speak, I have the turkey in the oven (the bird, not my husband), and am taking a break from peeling potatoes. My sister and her family are visiting from out of town, which is always a treat, no matter the occasion.
Traditionally, Thanksgiving celebrations involve reflecting on the blessings in our life – the things for which we are thankful. You would think that it would be easy to do so, but oftentimes we get tripped up by focusing on the things that are not going right, instead of the many things that are truly wonderful.
I love this video I found on YouTube. Just listen to the simple, mundane things for which they are grateful, and then challenge yourself not to take the small blessings in your life for granted:
In fact, zeroing in on the positive is our bottom line here at Peachy Green. While we state that we are “harvesting the fruits of going green,” we are looking for great news about environmental stories worldwide. Instead of wringing our hands at news of melting glaciers and rising CO2 levels, we’ll tell you what you can do to help – and who is making a difference, too.
We’re unofficially celebrating 16 months at Peachy Green. Its been a labor of love, and we enjoy each and every one of our community here in the “Peach Orchard.” For that – and for so many other things, I am thankful.
Ooops – its almost time to get the turkey out of the oven!
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
