Bicycles from IKEA
Its holiday bonus time! In one of the greenest moves this year, free bicycles were given to IKEA employees in the United States.
That’s right – 12,400 IKEA employees received free 26″ mountain bikes to enjoy and/or use for green commuting. Because the bicycles were a gift, neither price nor brand were disclosed.
Company spokesperson, Mona Lisa, said that the bicycles were made specifically for IKEA employees to thank them for “great results and great team work.” The bicycle gifts were given to thank co-workers for a good year.
The unisex bicycles do not carry the IKEA logo, but they are silver with yellow, blue and white stripes. Perhaps not surprisingly, employees were thrilled to receive free bicycles from IKEA. Luz Morales of Philadelphia enthused:
“It’s such a cool gift and ties in with our tagline of being ‘the life-improvement store.’”
Although she wasn’t a bicyclist before the gift, Morales states that she is now!
What a great holiday bonus! Kudos to IKEA for the cool free bicycle giveaway.
