Don't let your money go down the drain!

Looking for ways to save water at home?  Don’t let your money go down the drain.  Its easy to… um… tap into living green with these 6 water saving measures:

  1. Replace your shower head with a low-flow model.  With new state-of-the-art products, you won’t compromise feeling clean for saving water!
  2. Check your toilets for leaks from the tank into the bowl (hint – you can often hear them running and wasting water).  If you have a few extra bucks, you’ll save green as well as water by replacing old models with a new “low-flow” toilet.
  3. Don’t allow your faucets to leak water- fix or replace them.  In the kitchen, think about an aerator to minimize water usage.
  4. Laundry takes up a huge amount of water.  If its time to get a new washing machine, get one that spins vertically, rather than horizontally
  5. Opt for a shower instead of a bath, and consider teaming up with your partner or spouse!
  6. Minimize landscape watering losses via evaporation by timing watering to early morning or evening after the sun has gone down.  Another bonus tip is to consider washing your car (with eco-friendly detergents, of course) on the lawn to allow for easy re-use of the grey water for watering!

We may still be a few weeks away from spring, but before you know it, you’ll be turning down the heat and up the water usage.  Time to start planning ahead and consider ways to save water at home.

Make your next home improvement project a green one and fix up your faucets and appliances to save water!
