The 2010 Mercedes-Benz S400 Hybrid
Have you seen those commercials – popular this time of year – where the husband takes his wife to the window, and they look outside at a shiny new car, all tied up with a giant bow?
Yeah. Its not happening on my driveway either.
But perhaps, if I’m really, really good, Santa will bring me a new hybrid Mercedes!
The 2010 Mercedes-Benz S400 is 2.5 tons of luxury “green-ness.” While many people would not readily think of a nearly $100,000 vehicle (base price $87,950) as eco-friendly, this car is certainly more eco-friendly than others in its class.
But, what can be said of a ride that is being referred to as the “Donald Trump of automobiles”? I mean, other than, I’ll take one!
I’m working on my letter to the North Pole right now:
Dear Santa,
I don’t need much this year. In fact, I am only going to ask for one gift. I’ve been really, really good, and I think I deserve a 2010 Mercedes-Benz S400. With five seats and a large trunk, I’ll be able to carpool to soccer and gymnastics (including gear) with ample space. I figure that I can make an improvement with respect to gas mileage, since my new car will get 22.5 MPG, and will have a gas-electric propulsion system that can give me 295 horsepower.
I really want to drive green, and I don’t think we could otherwise afford the price tag of $96,195 (as tested by Car & Driver), unless you and the elves help us out. Since I spend so much time in my car each day, carpooling and shopping for groceries, I really need a comfortable ride with a lower environmental impact.
You’ve got to know about the fact that the Mercedes-Benz S400 is one of the first gasoline-electric hybrids to use advanced lithium ion batteries, instead of the heavier, less efficient nickel metal hydride and advanced lead-acid batteries that are normally used in hybrid, or all-electric cars.
What do you think, Santa? I know you are probably going green up at the North Pole, too. Do you mind sending a bit of that our way this year? Sincerely, Stephanie
p.s. Did you get the organic cookies I sent?
What do you think? Should I get my wish? I could even save on the wrapping paper and bow….
Well, *sigh*, a girl can dream!

Ditto what Steph said. You know where I live.
