Here it is - the Ethical Approach Auto

One of my favorite PBS shows, the Hippy Gourmet, is a reliable source for delicious recipes and tips for sustainable living.  Recently, the Hippy Gourmet aired a spot on these cute electric cars (actually, they qualify as motorcycles) from Ethical Approach Autos.

The beauty of these vehicles is that they are less expensive to register than cars, they are cleaner (no greenhouse gas emissions) and yet, you can still haul stuff around.  Groceries anyone?  With three wheels, they qualify as motorcycles through the DMV, but they are obviously more spacious, like an automobile.  Talk about the best of both worlds!

Let’s go for a quick drive with the Hippy Gourmet in one of these sleek electric vehicles:

To me, the Ethical Approach Autos look like a perfect commuter car…. er… motorcycle.  The only caveat is that it has a maximum speed of about 40-45 mph.  The 100% electric vehicles require no gas and make no emissions.  In California (where you can buy one), you can receive a $1000 tax credit off the sticker price of about $11,700.  Plus, you’ll be able to get around town for about 5 cents per mile, as opposed to the 30-40 cents per mile that gas-guzzlers require.

The California dealer is located at: 3806 Stevens Creek, San Jose, California, or at 408-355-9940.  Before long, I expect to see these little Zap, Ethical Approach Autos buzzing around all over.
